Blackjack is the most popular game in casinos across the world. Also known as 21, Blackjack is a game of trying to beat the dealer. Players try to draw a hand as close to 21 as possible, without going over. If you get closer than the dealer, you win the hand! But be sure you don't bust or you lose! It's a simple and easy game to learn for new card players.

Rules of Blackjack
In Blackjack, the dealer faces one to seven players from behind an arc-shaped table. Each player plays his hand independently against the dealer. At the beginning of each round, the player places a bet in the "betting box" and receives an initial hand of two cards both face up. The dealer hands out cards left to right to whichever players have placed a bet. The dealer gives himself one card face down and one face up. The object of the game is to get a higher card total than the dealer's hand, but without going over 21, which is called "busting".
Cards with a number 2 to 10 printed on them count as that value; the jack, queen, and king (also known as "face cards") count as 10; and the ace card can be either 1 or 11 according to the player's choice. The player goes first and plays his hand by taking additional cards if he desires. If he goes over 21, he "busts" and automatically loses the hand and his bet. When all players have acted, the dealer plays his or her hand based on predetermined rules. If the dealer busts, he loses to all remaining players who have cards whose values are equal to or below 21. If neither busts, the higher hand total wins. If a player ties with the dealer, the hand is a "push", and the player's bet is returned (this means player does not lose his bet, but wins nothing either). It is possible for the dealer to lose to some players but still beat other players in the same round.
The player has several options once they receive their hand. They can do one of the following four actions below:
- Hit: Take another card from the dealer in hopes of improving your hand to a higher total.
- Stand: Take no more cards and stay with you current card total.
- Double Down: On the first two cards, a player can double his bet and receive one more card. Counts of 10 and 11 are good double down hands as they player is hoping to receive a 10 to get a solid hand.
- Split: On the first two cards, a player can double his bet and "split" their hand if they are dealt a pair. This initial hand now becomes two separate hands that the player has the chance to win on.
The player can take as many hits as he wants as long as the total in his hand is not above 20. However, if he busts, he loses that hand. After all players have finished making their decisions, the dealer then reveals his hole card and plays out his hand.
The dealer has predetermined rules that he must follow when playing out his hand. If the dealer has less than 17, he must take another card, or "hit". If the dealer has 17 or more, he must "stand" (take no more cards). He does this only after all other players have acted.
